Making the most of what little there is: shallow draught, limited space… We know how to do it in Saint Armel! With 140 volunteers (out of a population of 12,000) and a committed and imaginative local council, the stopover at Saint Armel is as much a logistical feat as it is a moment suspended in time – poetic and festive – between land and sea…
The shallow draught of this magnificent stretch of water means it can only accommodate small vessels, such as yoles and sail-and-oar boats… Flotillas that sometimes number close to a hundred boats!
For the duration of this evening dedicated to Morbihan Gulf Week, life comes to a standstill in Saint-Armel: the road is blocked, the moorings are cleared, 500 sailors disembark, and it’s party time on the passage’s quay! Music, dancing, crêpes, entertainment, a concert…
The next morning, at the crack of dawn, thanks to the volunteers from L’Armeloise, the shuttle service to the moorings resumes. And everyone sets off again with a fresh baguette (particularly appreciated!) under their arm and a twinkle in their eye.
